Introduction

e-Shram Card is a vital requirement for the government from where they can fetch the authentic data of all unorganized sector’s workers. The workers are divided into two main categories such as the Organized sector and the Unorganized sector. As per the report , only 17% of workers came from the organized sector and 83% from the unorganized sector. There is a huge difference between these numbers which shows that the government does not have any data or details of these sectors. This is the main reason where a large part is devoid from many welfare schemes.

However, the government has introduced an e-Shram card for all unorganized sector’s workers and aims to register almost 50 crore unorganized workers and provide them an e-shram card with a UAN. This card is a beneficial stand for the citizens for the database for scheme intimation, employment opportunities, PMSBY and other scheme opportunities. In this blog you will get the complete understanding regarding the e-shram card including its meaning, difference between organized and unorganized sectors, process to apply and benefits.

What is an e-Shram Card?

E-Shram Card is a digital initiative launched by the Government of India to support unorganized sector workers. The e-Shram Portal is a centralized database established to collect data on unorganized workers. Its main purpose is to facilitate unorganized workers with the social security and welfare schemes of the government by providing a UAN to workers. Through the platform, unorganised workers can register and obtain identity cards, which will enable them to access government schemes, benefits, and services more easily.

What is an organized and unorganized sector?

Characteristics of the organized Sector-

  • Compliances
  • Government taxations
  • Access to Resources

    2. Unorganized Sector:

This sector has minimal resources than the organized sector such as money and employees. This unorganized sector is also less productive and efficient than the unorganized sector.
